Background.

Created in 2015, Light and Dwell Interiors is a full-service residential design studio based in Corvallis, Oregon. Last year they decided to expand with more space for the team to gather and collaborate. Though the design studio is national and does work virtually, they still needed a home base office for materials, samples, and conference meetings.

The office design heavily reflects the Light and Dwell aesthetic, one that celebrates the beauty and function of each space. Drawing upon Old-World influences they create spaces that feel both elevated but familiar to clients. With respect to classic beauty and the patina of well-worn pieces, they blend old and new to tell their client’s story. They balance a reverence for items that have stood the test of time with a passion for innovation.

Challenges.

However, there was a challenge: they needed several unique types of storage to hold all of their samples and design inspiration. They weren’t sure how it was going to all fit into the space, especially since they couldn’t go the full custom route, either.

Kokeena not only helped them solve the storage puzzle, but they also helped elevate the style of the office and create a more custom look they wouldn’t have been able to achieve otherwise. This was accomplished with Kokeena’s Modern English shaker door in Folkstone that gave them a space that was organic, European-inspired, and most importantly functional.

Results.

They were able to use Kokeena on the project, not only to make their storage more customized but also to meet their unique aesthetic using a handful of vintage pieces to help tell their story—complemented with Kokeena’s products.

“Once we gave Kokeena our dimensions, the ordering process was so quick and easy. They are pros at what they do and have made the process so much easier than I expected,” says Light and Dwell’s Lauren Royster. “And let me tell you how many inquires we’ve gotten about the color. Everyone loves it, it’s the perfect neutral.”
